Film Description

Adapted from Claire Keegan’s 2021 book of the same name, SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE transports us to a small Irish town in 1985. The small villages of that country are ruled by the clergy as they have been for centuries. Resistance, if contemplated, is only spoken in whispers. A coal merchant’s deliveries include the convent. The day-to-day application of harsh discipline is accompanied by the phrase “The Lord is compassion and love”. It takes a shocking event to turn Bill Furlong, played by Cillian Murphy, into a force for change.
