Director Tracey Deer draws on her own difficult memories to tell this story of a young Mohawk girl in the midst of the 1990 Oka crisis. Filmed at Kanesatake, Tekehentahkhwa who is nicknamed Beans, lives through the armed standoff radically changing her life perspective. Winner of the Canadian Screen Awards Best First Feature Award in May 2021.
