Film Description

This story of a remarkable wine begins around 1800. A young husband dies, unexpectedly revealing a formidable and determined wife. Though the Napoleonic Code of 1804 bans women from owning a business, Barbe-Nicole Clicquot fends off the state and grasping competitors. She pursues her late husband’s experiments with soil and growing vines. The Widow Clicquot bets on the weather, herself and her own blend of sparkling wine.
