Film Description

Winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes, the latest film by Iranian dissident Jafar Panahi, It Was Just An Accident, is about just that.  A mechanic, and former political prisoner, believes that he recognizes a new customer as one of the guards who had tormented him and his fellow inmates. The twist: prisoners had been blindfolded, so he must decide whether to exact revenge based only upon his sense of hearing. He begins the suspenseful and consequential quest to find another prisoner who can definitively confirm the man’s identity. (Subtitled)
